On our last pilgrimage to Athos with the FoMA footpath team we had a day off on day 4 (21/09-23) because the monks of Sografou were celebrating a holiday and all workers were not allowed to do any work. We took the opportunity to visit the Docheiariou monastery. As we passed the arsanas of Konstamonitou, we were surprised to discover a new chapel, still under construction, but almost finished.

The windows had just been installed but not yet finished with cement. And a lot of work was still being done on the interior, as can be seen in the photos. The only icon that already has been placed inside, depicts Christ as the Arch-Priest (thanks Theophilos in a comment), The chapel is dedicated to St. Kosma (thanks Jemmo, also in a comment).

The unfinished chapel, seen from the other side, and were the path to Docheiariou continues.
There are three caves under the rocks where the chapel is built. The first and second (left and center) can be visited from the arsanas Konstamonitou. The third cave can not be reached on foot.

The view from the middle cave to Docheiariou, with the crystal clear waters of the sea!
