Arrival in Karakallou.
It was almost evening when we finally arrived in Karakallou. We received a friendly welcome by the monk who deals with the guests. Father Prodromos served us the traditional drinks and food. Everything tasted delicious. We had a wonderful encounter with two other pilgrims (Wim, Jitze and Gert-Jan) who had walked towards us from Filotheou. Then to the guesthouse, to the church and dinner. After dinner there was an opportunity to talk with Father Pachomios and later there was time to take some pictures.
Roof terrace
Karakallou has a high roof terrace for pilgrims, which is only closed when it gets dark. It is a fascinating place with a beautiful view of the Holy Mountain. These photos were all taken from the roof terrace.
Morning light.
The next day, after church and breakfast, we took some time to take a look around in the morning light.
Then it was time to continue our pilgrimage to Stavronikita.
